Alvaro Paredes is a mining environmental specialist with over 20 years of experience in the field of environmental assessments for mining projects. Alvaro has managed many environmental impact assessments, leading multidisciplinary and multicultural teams and representing clients in front of communities and regulatory agencies. His work experience is focussed on social and environmental impact assessments and also includes environmental due diligence and audits, environmental permitting, environmental management plans and mine closure planning. Most recently in his career, Alvaro has acted as a client representative: providing strategic advice and performing reviews of social and environmental impact assessments conducted by third parties. His background in mining engineering combined with environmental engineering and relevant experience in public participation and indigenous consultation processes provides a unique set of skills that allows him to liaise between engineering and environmental teams as well as provide high-level strategic and specific advice on detailed issues facing respective projects. His work experience involves projects in Canada, Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia. Alvaro Paredes is fully bilingual in English and Spanish and has substantial academic and working experience in French.
